Terms
1. Purpose and acceptance
Psychotip is a psychoeducation information service published by Psychotip Inc., a company registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; full details appear in the legal notice. These terms govern access to the site and use of the programmes it publishes. By creating an account or taking out a plan, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
2. What Psychotip is not
Psychotip publishes educational information grounded in research. The service is not a consultation, a diagnosis or a treatment, and it creates no care relationship between you and a health professional. Reading a programme does not replace the advice of a doctor, a psychologist or a psychiatrist. The site carries out no regulated health activity and is not an emergency service: if you or someone else is in immediate danger, call the emergency services in your country — in the United Arab Emirates, 998 for an ambulance and 999 for the police.
3. Capacity and account
Accounts may be opened only by persons aged eighteen or over who have the capacity to contract. A minor may subscribe only through their legal guardian, who then becomes the account holder. You undertake to provide an accurate email address and to confirm that you own it by opening the link sent to you: without that confirmation the account remains inactive. The account is strictly personal; you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any action taken from your account.
4. Plans, prices and payment
Two plans are offered: a monthly subscription and an annual subscription. A monthly subscription may, if you choose, begin with a seven-day free trial, offered once per person: a card is requested at sign-up, and the subscription is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before that date, at no cost. During the trial, the programmes can be read online, but the full PDF of the programmes can only be downloaded once the trial has ended. You may also subscribe directly, without a trial. Reference prices are set in US dollars; other currencies are converted weekly and then rounded, and the currency is chosen at the top of the page. The amount shown before payment is the total amount charged: no tax or additional fee is added to it. Payments are processed by Stripe and no card data is kept on our servers. Failure to pay suspends access to members-only programmes.
5. Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in force, until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from “My account”, with no reason and no fee: access stays open until the end of the period already paid for and no further payment is taken. Deleting your account, which can also be done from “My account”, immediately ends any subscription, with no automatic refund of what has been paid; any refund request, under the terms of section 6, must be sent through the contact form before deletion. A current monthly subscription, outside the free trial, may also be paused from “My account” for one, two or three months: access stays open until the end of the period already paid for, and is then suspended; no payment is taken during the pause, and the subscription resumes automatically on the date shown, with its payment. A pause may be cancelled as long as it has not begun.
6. Refund guarantee
Any first purchase is refunded in full if the request reaches us within seven days, with no need to give a reason; requests are made through the contact form. This guarantee is a commercial undertaking on our part, separate from your statutory rights. Because the programmes are digital content available immediately, certain statutory rights of withdrawal may not apply; where the law of your country of residence grants you mandatory consumer rights that are more favourable, those rights prevail over these terms.
7. Licence of use
Your access is personal and non-transferable. You may read the programmes online, print them from your browser and download the worksheets provided for that purpose, for your own use or that of members of your household. Sharing your credentials, reselling, public distribution, making the content available in a professional or institutional setting, reproducing it in another product or medium, and building a database from the content are all prohibited. Professional use — handing material to patients, pupils or course participants — requires a separate written agreement.
8. Intellectual property
The texts, printable worksheets, illustrations, visual identity and code of the site are protected by copyright, in particular by UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 38 of 2021 on Copyright and Neighbouring Rights, as well as by the applicable international conventions. The programmes are original texts; where they draw on published work, that work is cited in the sources section of each programme. No licence is granted beyond what the previous article provides.
9. Acceptable use
You undertake not to circumvent the access control on members-only programmes, not to extract the site's content automatically by scraping or any other automated means, not to attempt to reach accounts or systems that are not yours, and not to disrupt the operation of the service. Such conduct may constitute an offence under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumours and Cybercrimes. The number of sign-in attempts is limited and an account may be suspended in the event of clear abuse.
10. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep the service available without interruption but cannot guarantee it: interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates or external causes. The catalogue changes over time — programmes are added, revised or withdrawn — and each programme carries the date of its last revision. The withdrawal of a programme gives no right to a refund as long as access to the other programmes remains.
11. Liability
The service is provided as is, with no guarantee of outcome: reading a programme guarantees no particular improvement, and the decisions you make about your health are your own. To the extent permitted by law, our liability under these terms is limited to the sums you have paid us over the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. That limitation does not apply to fraud, gross negligence, or harm to life or physical integrity: the law of the United Arab Emirates does not allow liability for a harmful act to be excluded in advance.
12. Personal data
We collect only what is needed to maintain the account and manage access: email address, name if you provide one, language, purchase history, programmes opened and reading progress. No data is sold. Processing falls within the framework of UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data. The service relies on providers established outside the United Arab Emirates for hosting, database, payment and email delivery, which involves transferring data to their infrastructure. To measure its audience, the site counts page views without cookies and without storing IP addresses: each visit is only linked to an anonymous fingerprint renewed every day, which cannot recognise you from one day to the next; these measurements are kept for thirteen months. If you accept it in the banner provided for this purpose, and only then, the site also uses Google Analytics: Google sets measurement cookies, kept for at most thirteen months, and processes browsing data, including your IP address, on its servers, including outside the European Union. This data is used only to measure traffic, never for advertising. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page. You may delete your account at any time from “My account”: deletion is permanent and erases the data attached to it, except for billing records we must keep to meet our accounting obligations.
13. Questionnaires for patients
Professional subscribers can build questionnaires and pass them on to their patients, through a link, which they send themselves or by email from the site, or on paper. These questionnaires are screening tools written by Psychotip from the DSM-5-TR criteria, rephrased; they have not been validated and make no diagnosis: interpreting them is a matter for the professional's clinical judgement alone. The professional decides to use them, informs their patient of their purpose and of how their answers are processed, obtains the patient's consent where the rules that apply to the professional require it, and remains responsible for this processing. When they have the link sent by email, they make sure that the recipient has agreed to be contacted at that address and that the address is correct. Psychotip carries out the processing on the professional's behalf and solely on their instructions: the answers serve no other purpose, are kept encrypted and are erased within the periods set out in the privacy policy. It is for the professional to check that this way of collecting answers complies with the rules of their profession and country, in particular regarding the hosting of health data. These questionnaires are not an emergency service: a worrying answer only becomes known when the professional consults the result.
14. Recommended guides and referrals
Professional subscribers can recommend a guide intended for the general public to a patient, through a link that they pass on to the patient themselves or by email from the site. From the first time the link is opened, the patient can read that guide online for thirty days, free of charge and without a subscription; the full PDF is not included. A link that has not been opened expires after sixty days, and the professional can withdraw it at any time. The professional recommends a guide on their own responsibility, and this reading does not replace the professional's follow-up of the patient. Each subscriber also has a personal referral link. A person who creates their account through that link and takes out their first subscription receives a discount on their first invoice: on the monthly plan, the first month is free, in place of the seven-day trial, and on the annual plan, one twelfth of the price is deducted. When that person pays their first invoice for a non-zero amount, the referrer receives a credit equal to one month of their own plan, deducted from their subsequent invoices, provided that the referrer is still a subscriber on that date; no more than twelve credits per twelve-month period. These benefits cannot be combined with another promotional code and cannot be converted into cash; a referral obtained by fraud, for example by means of fictitious accounts, is cancelled. We may change or end the referral programme with effect for the future, without affecting benefits already acquired.
15. Governing law, jurisdiction and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of the United Arab Emirates as applicable in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction. This clause does not override the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country where you live, nor your right to bring proceedings before the courts of that country where the law allows it. Any complaint must first be sent to us through the contact form; we undertake to reply within fifteen working days. Consumers established in the United Arab Emirates may also refer the matter to the Ministry of Economy or to Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism.
16. Changes to these terms, language and date
We may amend these terms. Any substantial change is announced by email to account holders at least thirty days before it takes effect; a price increase applies only from the following renewal and leaves you free to cancel beforehand. These terms are published in seven languages for your convenience: in the event of divergence between versions, the English version prevails, and the language of proceedings before the UAE courts is Arabic.
